Well I've had a blast this past week. The art club "Les Fauves" or "Wild Beasts" as it's translated, at my school has been given the opportunity to paint video game characters at a store on the walls. Now I can say I'm proud to have gotten my start in the art world when I was caught drawing on my grandmother's newly painted walls as a toddler! So yea, we got together and decided on characters that we wanted to paint. FIRST I had to make sure that I COULD paint 'cause it's been a few ... years... since I've attempted anything of this nature, on paper or anything else. That's when I decided to draw Sora on paper, fill it in with prisma color pencils, then outline with technical pens, and finally go over it with Acrylics that I had gotten for "school" supplies. *coughs*. That turned out halfway decent so I used that as my preliminary drawing/painting for what I was going to paint on the wall at the store. Other than the hair being a little orange/golden-ish instead of brown I thought it turned out pretty good considering I hadn't painted on a wall before. Then I saw that other people hadn't really started working on their projects. There's a finished Spider-Man, Sonic, and Assassin's Creed dude that turned out to be a KICK ASS job. ALSO there's Red 13 from Final Fantasy that's almost finished, and an InuYasha in progress being done by my friend :icon agua-de-diablo:. After I painted Sora, I decided to go at it again, and did another preliminary painting of Danny Phantom, which I've posted here - or the finished version of it anyways, and THEN I painted ... Aang the Avatar which I did a preliminary with markers to save on the paint, and the FINAL piece was supposed to be Pickachu but I changed my mind and did Wolverine 'cause I have to paint the DIFFICULT characters *sigh*. At first Wolverine started looking like my drawing teacher o.O. I fixed that part, but the shading still doesn't seem right with me but I'm not going to go back and touch it. Looks like he's coming out of the wall and about to head-butt someone. His claws kinda look like they're curved on the left, and straight on the right, but you know what, oh well. I didn't do a preliminary sketch on that one so I thought it turned out pretty damned good.
ALSO while I was painting Wolverine, I must've been talking or something to one of the other art club members, 'cause all of a sudden, I was on the ladder, and BOOM ---- the tray full of paint falls off the ladder and onto the cabinet, paint got on the cabinet and the floor and of course all over ME. I was just grateful it didn't get on the InuYasha piece my friend was working on or she'd have strangled me! We managed to get it off the cabinet and most of it off the floor, and AFTER that I made sure to have something below me to catch anymore falling paints. My shirt that I had on was "Instant Human Just Add Coffee" with a 'lil coffee cup and steam coming out, and now it's the "Instant Human Just Add Coffee and PAINT" shirt. *sigh*, I LOVED that shirt... oh well, that's what I get for being accidental prone. But since I've done four characters already, the store owner was like "You've done more than enough, some others need to finish their pieces, but I really appreciate what you've done for me." and my work's gotten a lot of compliments so I've been pretty giddy for the most part this week. Sunday was the longest day 'cause we painted from like 10am to 6ish pm. And yesterday was long too, 'cause I was outlining the Avatar dude and painting Wolverine too.
The other characters that are in progress right now are: Warrio, Dr.Mario, Bomerman, Tetris, and some other fox-like character, and Spyro. There's more but I can't think of all of them. There's some turtle game character that's finished and Squirtel from Pokemon. So yea we have had a TON of fun this week. After it's all finished, there's going to be an article in the local and college newspaper, and she's going to get a plaque with all our names that helped paint and stuff and put it on the outside of her store and we'll have like a "Grand Opening" for the art club members party thing, so it'll be awesome
